
Overview
10 Days Rwanda safari is a fantastic safari that is going to expose you to the fantastic hidden treasures of Rwanda. this safari is going to take you for game drive in Akagera national park which is a home to the big 5 of Africa, and these are; lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes and rhinos. You will track gorillas and golden monkeys in Volcanoes national park, visit Nyungwe forest national park to track chimpanzees and also to engage in canopy walk. While on a safari in Rwanda, you will visit Iby’iwacu cultural village also known as gorilla guardian village. The safari will give you undying memories about Rwanda.
Detailed itinerary.
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to the hotel.
Upon arrival, our driver / safari guide will be waiting for meet and greet at Kigali Airport, he will warmly welcome you and take you through the itinerary. Later drive to your booked hotel in Kigali where you will have an overnight stay as you prepare for the safari.
Day 2: City tour and transfer to Akagera national park.
Arise in the morning, grab a delicious breakfast, meet your drive guide who will take you around Kigali City by visiting different safari destinations for example; you will visit presidential palace, proceed to Kigali genocide memorial centre, you will be told the stories that led to 1994 Rwandan genocide, later visit different markets and artisans where you will interact with the locals, go for lunch and then transfer to Akagera national park which is the oldest national park in Africa and its famous for hosting Africa’s big 5. You will arrive in the evening, check-in the lodge, have dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Game drive and boat cruise.
Arise in the early morning, meet your driver guide and head to the jungle to catch animals when they are very active. Be sure to see buffaloes, elephants, rhinos, lions and leopards and these are Africa’s big 5. You will spot other species such as giraffes, zebras, antelopes among other species, you will return to the lodge for breakfast and in the afternoon after lunch, you go for a boat cruise on Lake Ihema where you will have a fantastic evening breeze, you will see hippos, birds and the beautiful vegetation around the lake, you will retire to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Arise in the morning, grab a fantastic breakfast, check-out and head to Volcanoes national park, a home to mountain gorillas and golden monkeys, you will have many stopovers for scenic viewing, lunch will be served on the way. You will arrive in Volcanoes national park in the afternoon hours, check-in the lodge, have dinner and night stay.
Day 5: Gorilla trekking
This is another long awaited day for you to enjoy seeing gorillas in their natural environment. Arise in the morning, enjoy your breakfast and be transferred to the park headquarters for a briefing about gorilla trekking. You will also be given a gorilla family to track, head to the forest with a ranger guide who will help you to locate the gorillas, enjoy sights and sounds of birds, spend an hour with gorillas, retire to your lodge relaxation and overnight stay.
Day 6: Iby’iwacu cultural tour and transfer to Lake Kivu
This is another eventful day for you, arise for a lazy breakfast, and thereafter head to the community to visit the Iby’iwacu cultural village. You will enjoy how Rwandan culture is exhibited, you will be entertained through dances and songs, thereafter, transfer Lake Kivu, enjoy your lunch on the way, enjoy different sights of the rolling hills of Rwanda and you will surely admit why it’s called land of a thousand hills. Arrive in the evening, check-in the lodge, have dinner and night stay.
Day 7: Lake Kivu exploration
This is going to be a day of rejuvenating, since you will do simple activities that don’t involve hustle and bustle. You will wake up at your time of convenience, enjoy breakfast at your balcony and later engage in boat cruise on Lake Kivu where you will enjoy different sights of the lake, sounds by birds and the green vegetation around the lake.
Day 8: Transfer to Nyungwe forest.
Arise in the morning for a lazy breakfast, check-out and transfer to Nyungwe national park, a home to the rare chimpanzees. You will have lunch en-route and thereafter proceed on your journey to Nyungwe forest, arriving in the afternoon, check-in the lodge, have dinner and overnight stay.
Day 9: Chimpanzee tracking and canopy walk
Arise in the morning, enjoy a mouthwatering breakfast and be transferred to the park headquarters for a briefing about chimpanzee trekking, you will also be assigned a chimpanzee family to track, you will later go to the forest to search for the chimps, and after finding them, you will spend an hour with them, return to the lodge, freshen up and in the evening go for canopy walk. You will be rubbing shoulders with tree tops, birds and monkeys will be your immediate neighbors, you will enjoy different sceneries, return to the lodge for dinner and night stay.
Day 10: Check-out and departure .
On the last day of your trip, you will wake up for a scrumptious breakfast, check-out and transfer to Kigali for a flight back home or to other destinations. This will be the end of your 10 days Rwanda safari.
