12 days Uganda gorilla safari is one of the best adventures that every traveler should never miss while one their visit in Uganda. This safari takes you to the most visited destinations in Uganda to encounter the magical wonders that makes this country stand out as a unique Pearl Of Africa.
On this safari, you will have to encounter mountain gorillas in Bwindi National Park which has almost the world’s remaining gorilla population, you will visit Kibale forest national park, you will have the chance to visit Murchison falls national park which boasts having the strongest water falls in the world and on this circuit to Murchison you will have to visit Ziwa rhino sanctuary to track rhinos which are the part of the big 5 of the jungle
It is on this safari where you will be exposed to the tree climbing lions in Uganda in Queen Elizabeth National Park which is the most open savanna national park that Uganda celebrates, be sure to visit different communities in Uganda to have  touch of experience about Uganda’s culture. You will have an en-route at the Equator.
Day 1: Pick-up and transfer to the hotel
Upon arrival, our driver guide will be waiting to receive you at the airport, he will take you through the itinerary, depending on the time of arrival, if you arrive early you will do a city tour and get exposed to the hidden treasures that makes Kampala city a unique one. You will later be transferred to the hotel where you will relax, have dinner and get ready for the trip.
Day 2: Transfer to Murchison falls National Park
You will wake up on a delicious breakfast, meet your driver guide, check-out and transfer to Murchison falls national park and this is the largest national park that Uganda boasts with. On your way, you will have an en-route to Ziwa rhino sanctuary to track the magnificent rhinos, you will have 2 hours with rhinos, have lunch and thereafter embark on your journey to Murchison Falls National Park, you will arrive in the evening, check-in the lodge, have dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Game drive and boat cruise
This is an eventful day where you will wake up in the early morning to catch the animals when they are still very active and they will be near, you will be amazed to see herds of buffaloes, elephants, lions, leopards and these are the Africa’s big 5 of the jungle. You will see other animals such as giraffes competing with tallest trees in height, duikers, bushbucks, waterbucks, hartebeests, birds, baboons among other species, you will return to the hotel for relaxation, have lunch, and in the evening be ready for a boat cruise to the bottom of the falls.
Cruise through a school of hippos, crocodiles, birds will be seen at the shores, you will go ahead to visit top of the falls to have a clear view of the falls from the above, hereafter, you will retire to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Check-out and transfer to Kibale forest.
This is going to be another day for you to travel to another enticing destination. After a scrumptious breakfast, you will check-out and transfer to Kibale national park which is famous for hosting the biggest number of chimpanzees in the world and therefore chances for seeing these primates is higher than your expectations.
Enjoy best sceneries of the rolling hills in Fort-Portal which are covered by tea plantations, you will take pictures and then proceed to have lunch in Fort-Portal town which is Uganda’s tourism city. After lunch, you will embark on your journey to the park, arriving in the evening, check-in the lodge, and have dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi wetland
Arise in the early morning for a delicious breakfast, head to the park information center where you will be briefed about chimpanzee trekking, thereafter, be allocated chimpanzee family to track, you will head to the forest with a ranger guide who will help you to locate the primates, spend an hour while tracking chimpanzees, enjoy their plays, how they will be jumping from one tree brunch to another.
return to the lodge for lunch and in the evening, visit Bigodi wetland which is famous for hosting the great blue Turaco, spot other animals such as red tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, sitatungas, bush pigs, baboons, birds like king fishers, papyrus Gonolek, African jacana, fly catchers, Rwenzori turacos among others. You will return to the lodge for for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth NP and boat cruise.
You will wake up on a delicious breakfast at your time of convenience, check-out and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park which is 2 hours’ drive from Kibale national park. You will arrive in the afternoon, check-in at the lodge, have lunch and in the evening you will engage in boat cruise on Kazinga channel. This launch cruise is one of the best water activity in East Africa which expands to join Lake Edward in Congo and Lake George in Uganda. Most animals will be seen at the shore quenching their thirst, you will see a huge number of birds as well, enjoy evening sunset while you are the cruise, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 7: Full day in Queen Elizabeth National Park
This is another day for you to explore the beauty of Queen Elizabeth National Park. After a fabulous breakfast, you will head to the park where you will spend the whole day discovering the beauty of this magnificent park. You will start with a game drive around the Kasenyi sector where you will meet most grazers such as buffaloes, kobs, waterbucks, bushbucks, and in this area, you may be able to see lions, leopards, hyenas. These are savanna predators they will be trying to make a kill.
You will later proceed to Lake Katwe where salt is mined, you will visit different crater lakes like Lake Nyamunuka, Lake Munyanyange where you will spot flamingos, and you will enjoy a picnic lunch, visit different animal viewpoints, retire to the lodge, have dinner and overnight.
Day 8: Check-out and transfer to Bwindi National Park through Ishasha sector.
Arise in the morning on a scrumptious breakfast, check-out and transfer to Bwindi impenetrable forest national park with an en-route to Ishasha sector to see tree climbing lions, you will meet other animals such as buffaloes, elephants, antelopes among other species. You will exit the park and proceed to Bwindi, arriving in the time for lunch, connect to your lodge, check-in, have lunch and relax.
Day 9: Gorilla trekking and Batwa community walk
This is another beautiful day where you will have to meet the iconic celebrated mountain gorillas. You will wake up on a delicious breakfast and be transferred to the park headquarters for a briefing about mountain gorilla trekking. You will be assigned a gorilla family to trek, and thereafter, head to the off-beaten paths to the forests, you will have an hour to spend with mountain gorillas, taking pictures and videos.
Rreturn to the lodge, freshen up and enjoy a hot lunch, in the evening you will visit Batwa community who will welcome you with lots of songs and dances, they will entertain you, and they will tell you stories about their ancient life. You can also support this group by buying their craft work, thereafter, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 10: Drive to Lake Bunyonyi
On this day, you will wake up on a relaxed breakfast at your time of convenience, check-out and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi which is the deepest lake. You will arrive in the afternoon, be welcomed by the magical view of the lake especially the terraced hills which give a magical reflection in the lake. You will check-in, have lunch and relax at the lake or if you want you can engage in swimming since this is a bilharzia free lake.
Day 11: Canoeing and relaxation
Unfold your day at your leisure with a delicious breakfast at your lodge, and then head to the lake for canoeing. You will visit nearly all the 29 islands that the Lake has including Kyahugye Island which accommodates wildlife like zebras, impalas, sitatungas, among others. You will return to the lodge for lunch and relax.
Day 12: Check-out and departure to Kampala
This is the last leg of your safari, arise in the morning for breakfast, you will check-out and transfer back to Kampala. You will have an en-route to Igongo cultural center to get a touch of Ankole culture, listen to different stories, and buy some souvenirs in case you want, enjoy lunch in Mbarara and embark on the journey.
Another stopover will be at the Equator where you will take pictures while standing in both hemispheres of the earth. Proceed on the road to Kampala / Entebbe thus marking the end of your 12 days Uganda safari.
